Achievements

  • My short story, Waiting for the Angels, was shortlisted for the TLM New Writing Prize 2006 (The Little Magazine, India).
  • Was part of the launching team for mocca.com, Singapore's top online classifieds portal.
  • Was part of the launching team for the peer-reviewed management journal, Management & Change, and served as its Editorial Coordinator for about 3 years.
  • Was the youngest creative writer from India to be invited to the Conference of New South Asian Creative and Academic Writers (26-30 June, 2002) at Colombo, Sri Lanka by the British Council, Sri Lanka and the International Center of Ethnic Studies, Sri Lanka.
  • Researched and Produced a documentary film “Indian Economic Transition Through Bollywood Eyes” which was covered on all major national TV News Networks and periodicals such as India Today, The Hindu Businessline and The Financial Express.
  • Was interviewed on the All India Radio (FM Channel) (60 minutes) in recognition of the documentary film that I had produced, “Indian Economic Transition Through Bollywood Eyes.”
  • Wrote and produced a short film (fiction) “Omi” (Hindi) (2001) on imparting of moral values in children; The film was screened at the 1 st Crimson Feet Film Festival, Ahmedabad, India in 2003.
  • Had a chance to work with Indian cinema’s luminaries such as Gulzar (filmmaker and lyricist), Govind Nihalani (filmmaker), and Shubha Mudgal (Classical Vocalist) on a Hindi Cinema Encyclopaedia Project.
  • Researched and copyedited SAARC: A Handbook (August 2003) for SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Islamabad, in collaboration with Friedrich-Naumann-stiftung, New Delhi.
  • Was consultant writer to a web-based e-learning project for ITpreneurs, Netherlands.
  • Was team member on an EU-funded sanitary and phytosanitary measures project on Indian exporters to the European Union.

 

Conferences/ Seminars

a. Participated on invitation in the Conference of New South Asian Creative and Academic Writers (26-30 June, 2002) at Colombo, Sri Lanka. The International Center of Ethnic Studies and British Council, Colombo organized the conference.

b. Participated as a delegate/NGO observer at the 8th Conference of Parties (COP8) under UNFCC at New Delhi, October 23-November 1, 2002.

c. Participated in a dialogue on “CopyRight, CopyLeft, CopyConsent: IPR in the Information Age” organized by Centre for Civil Society, New Delhi at India International Centre on March 15, 2003.

d. Was part of the organizing team for the Conference on “Markets for the Poor Farmer” held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, June 30, 2003.

e. Participated in a seminar on “Co-evolution of IPR and Technology in Developing Countries: A Neoclassical Perspective” as part of the Research Seminars at the Economics Division, SCDILE, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on September 22, 2003.

f. Was part of the organizing team for the international conference on “Doha Development Agenda: Cancun and After” under Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemporary Studies (RGICS), New Delhi in collaboration of the China Association for International Friendly Contacts (CAIFC), China at New Delhi, November 6-7, 2003.

g. Participated in a national symposium on “Relevance of GM Technology to Indian Agriculture and Food Security” organized by Gene Campaign at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on November 26-27, 2003.

h. Participated in the 5th Man Hong Kong International Literary Festival, Hong Kong, March 7-15, 2005.

i. Presented a paper titled "E-Learning and Higher Education: Problems, Prospects and Emerging Trends" at the International Conference on Higher Education and Information Technology at Muscat, Oman on March 28-29, 2005.

j. Moderated a session "Meet the Author: Tan Twan Eng" at the Singapore Writers Festival, 2007 (Dec 3).

k. Was a panelist in a session "The Worldwide world of Literary Blogs " at the Singapore Writers Festival, 2007 (Dec 8).
