Born in India, I'm now a Singapore-based journalist and writer. I'm also the founder-editor of Kitaab, a website dedicated to Asian writing in English.
I've authored two books and am working on my third. Of Seminal Fluids (2000, Delhi) was my first published novel. An anthology of translated poems, My Silence Speaks, followed in 2001 (Delhi).
In 2002, my short story, The Rats, won me an invitation to the Conference of New South Asian Creative and Academic Writers (2002) at Colombo. In 2006, another short story, Waiting for the Angels, was a finalist for the TLM New Writing Prize (The Little Magazine, India). It later appeared in an anthology of fiction (by new Indian writers), First Impressions (2006). "E.D." apeared in The Little Magazine (Vol. VII, Issue 1&2, 2007).
My journalism and fiction apears in India and abroad, including in periodicals such as The South China Morning Post (Hong Kong), Today (Singapore), India Se (Singapore), The Bangkok Post (Thailand), The Hindustan Times (India), The Times of India (India), Tehelka (India), The Pioneer (India), Outlook (India), Mainstream (India), The Little Magazine (India), Little India (US), Malaysiakini.com (Malaysia), Small Spiral Notebook (US), Aaj (Canada), Jamini (Bangladesh) and The Six Seasons Review (Bangladesh).
Apart from reading and writing, I also love cinema. I've dabbled in making short films and documentaries. Now in sunny Singapore, I live for my twin dreams: writing and filmmaking.
